چکیده

Ac-driven asymmetric pulses can be used to control the Fermi acceleration between three different motions, A: the accelerated mode, D: the decelerated mode, and H: the hyperaccelerated mode. In this paper we show that dissipation strongly affects the particles velocity, reducing the possibility for an accurate control of the dynamics. The saturation time, where the mean velocity starts to be constant due to dissipation, decays with a power law ∼ γ−β, where γ is the dissipation parameter and β is close to 1. The value of the saturated mean velocity also decays with a power law with exponent β ∼ 0.6 for case H, and β ∼ 0.3 for case A. In case D this velocity is almost constant for small dissipations.

On the role of stochastic Fermi acceleration in setting the dissipation scale of turbulence in the interstellar medium

We consider the dissipation by Fermi acceleration of magnetosonic turbulence in the Reynolds Layer of the interstellar medium. The scale in the cascade at which electron acceleration via stochastic Fermi acceleration (STFA) becomes comparable to further cascade of the turbulence defines the inner scale. For any magnetic turbulent spectra equal to or shallower than Goldreich-Sridhar this turns o...

Dynamical properties of an harmonic oscillator impacting a vibrating wall.

The dynamics of a spring-mass system under repeated impact with a vibrating wall is investigated using the static wall approximation. The evolution of the harmonic oscillator is described by two coupled difference equations. These equations are solved numerically, and in some cases exact analytical expressions have also been found. For a periodically vibrating wall, Fermi acceleration is only f...

Identifying and Analyzing Stop and Go Traffic based on Asymmetric Theory of Driving Behavior in Acceleration and Deceleration

Stop and go traffic that leads to oscillate traffic flow frequently is observed on congestion flow. Unexpected reasons such as lane – changing maneuvers, lower speeds of leader vehicle and moving bottleneck cause stop and go traffic and amplifying delay and environment impacts. Stop and go traffic exactly can’t be modeled by traffic models, and also car following models based on kinematic flow ...

Decay of energy and suppression of Fermi acceleration in a dissipative driven stadium-like billiard.

The behavior of the average energy for an ensemble of non-interacting particles is studied using scaling arguments in a dissipative time-dependent stadium-like billiard. The dynamics of the system is described by a four dimensional nonlinear mapping. The dissipation is introduced via inelastic collisions between the particles and the moving boundary. For different combinations of initial veloci...

Tunable Fermi acceleration in a nondissipative driven magnetic billiard.

We study the effect of a constant magnetic field on the dynamics of a system that may present Fermi acceleration (FA). The model in consideration is the nondissipative annular billiard with breathing boundaries. There is a field threshold, from which the mechanism of FA can be deactivated. The presence of the magnetic field curves the particle trajectories and for some combinations of the param...
